Tahiti

Tahiti – Moorea – Bora Bora – island names that can immediately conjure up images of turquoise blue waters, tropical rain forests, exotic sea creatures and feelings of tranquility seducing honeymoon couples, romantics, adventurers, and anyone looking for escape. Tahiti is an island of French Polynesia in the South Pacific, however, there are several islands that make up what is collectively referred to as Tahiti: Bora Bora, Moorea and Rangiroa are just a few. Most honeymoon couples visit and stay on more than just one.

Highlights
One of the highlights of the islands of Tahiti are the signature thatched roof, overwater bungalows. Tahiti also conjures up feelings of the exotic, peaceful and carefree attitudes of her people, which is something most urbanites long for; at least to decompress from the pressures of modern society. If your ideal honeymoon includes a need to relax while simultaneously indulging your senses, Tahiti may be just the ticket.
Geography/Environment
Tahiti is on the southeastern section of the Society Islands. It is about 30 miles long and 16 miles wide. The island is made of two unequal but round sections connected by a strip of land only about a mile wide, almost like a dumb bell. The island was created by volcanoes and is still very mountainous.
Activities
Relaxation, great scenery and water sports of all kinds are the favorites. You will find great beaches and clear water but you may also experience high prices and laid-back attitudes. Climate and Weather
Tahiti enjoys an ideal South Sea tropical climate. Maximum summer temperatures average 88ºF (31ºC) and the mean minimum is 72ºF (22ºC). The winter average maximum is 84ºF (29ºC) and the mean minimum is 66ºF (19ºC). These are much cooler in the uplands of the interior of the large islands. A cooling trade wind blows from the east south -east for most of the year. It usually drops to a whisper in the evening and picks up again by mid-morning.
Tahitian Culture
Tahitians are a very laid back people that, for the most part, lead very simple lives. North Americans accustomed to fast-paced lifestyles should adjust their expectations somewhat when in Tahiti. Time moves more slowly in Tahiti, which is probably why you are considering going there in the first place.
