  Credit cards are well accepted at hotels, major stores and better restaurants in Panama City. Outside Panama City, in general, cash will be necessary. You can get a cash advance on your credit card at most major Panamanian banks and ATMs; make sure you have your passport for ID. Because of counterfeit problems, most Panamanian businesses will not accept bills over $20.

  Panamanians themselves, especially the women, are generally well-dressed and beautifully groomed. 100% cotton fabrics are the most comfortable in the tropics.
