Highlights
The Islands Of The Bahamas is an independent nation and a member of the British Commonwealth of Nations, retaining many of the traditions brought over by the British. The Bahamas consists of several islands, each with its own highlights and attractions.

Nassau Paradise Island

  • Pirates of The Bahamas - is the only facility of its kind on the island, providing the perfect atmosphere for a day full of beach activities or just relaxing in one of the beach hammocks or lounge chairs.
  • Lucayan National Park - The caves at Lucayan National Park comprise one of the longest underwater cave systems in the world.
  • Rand Nature Center - The 100-acre sanctuary was the first education nature center to be established in The Islands of The Bahamas and is by far Grand Bahama's most accessible nature park.
  • Port Lucaya Marketplace - This 12-acre picturesque waterfront complex comprises island style clapboard structures and paved brick pathways. It is home retail shops, restaurants, artisans, hair braiders and straw venders. You can also find many water sport companies.
Activities
Of course, there are all the usual Caribbean recreational activities such as: snorkeling, diving, fishing, sailing, waterskiing, tennis, squash, golf and para-sailing. But this is subject to the island on which you are staying. The larger islands offer everything, including an abundance of nightlife, casinos, etc. What the smaller islands don't offer in activities, they make up for with their solitude.
Geography/Environment
The Bahamas consist of an archipelago of over seven hundred islands and cays stretching almost five hundred miles from Great Inagua in the south to Walker's Cay in the north. At its closest proximity to the United States, the island of Bimini, on the northwest limit of the Great Bahama Bank, is only forty six nautical miles from Miami.

Great Inagua, in the south, is situated directly north of the Windward Channel, only forty eight miles from Cuba and sixty miles from Haiti. On the south side of the Great Bahama Bank, the archipelago is separated from the Greater Antilles by the Old Bahamas Channel. In between, exist over seven hundred islands and cays, not counting another two thousand rocks and small cays. The Little Bahama Bank, in the north is comprised of Grand Bahama Island and the Abacos. Most of the rest of The Bahamas, to the south, lie on the Great Bahama Bank.

Climate and Weather
The trade winds that blow almost continually throughout The Bahamas give the islands a warm agreeable climate which varies little year round. The most refreshing time is between September through May when the temperature averages 70-75ºF. The rest of the year is a bit warmer with temperatures between 80-85ºF.
