Bangkok

Bangkok
Bangkok is one of Asia's most cosmopolitan cities. The city is an ideal place to get silk clothes tailor made and visit the floating market. The city's wealth of cultural sites, including over 400 temple-monasteries known as wats, makes it one of the world's most popular tourist destinations.
Highlights
Over 400 glittering Buddhist temples, palaces, and the timeless 'Venice of the East' canal and river scenes are a few of the must-sees. Buy some Thai silk and gemstones for that special someone in your life.
Geography/Environment
Bangkok is approximately 1,500 km2 (600 square miles). Bangkok is divided by the Chao Phraya River into two large cities, Bangkok and Thon Buri. There are several bridges that connect these two areas to each other, the Krungthon Bridge, the Phra Pinklao Bridge, and the Memorial Bridge are a few.
Activities
Bangkok has the usual array of sporting and fitness possibilities you'd expect in a city of this size, including golf, swimming, squash, bowling, gyms and even polo. For those looking for a more cultural experience, you can learn traditional Thai massage (or better yet, experience one first-hand) and even sign up for a course in Thai cooking. You can also learn one of several strains of Thai martial arts.
Climate and Weather
Average temperatures are about 29°C, ranging in Bangkok from 35°C in April to 17°C in December. There are three seasons: the cool season (November to February), the hot season (April to May), and the rainy season (June to October), though downpours rarely last more than a couple of hours.
