Mauritius

Mauritius

Mauritius is an island nation off the southeast coast of the African continent in the southwest Indian Ocean with a population of roughly 1.25 million people.  Mauritius Island is a small volcanic island, part of the Mascarene Islands, and fits most couples' expectations of what a honeymoon in paradise is like.  Most honeymooners come for Mauritius' wonderful beaches, and as such the island is extremely popular with newlyweds.  The cuisine of Mauritius is a blend of Indian, African, Chinese and European influences, a reflection of its inhabitants and multicultural history. It is common for a combination of cuisines to form part of the same meal, a treat for honeymooners with epicurean aspirations.
