Roatan Island

Roatan is the largest of the Bay Islands of Honduras and lies just 30 miles off of the northern coast of the Honduran mainland. This tropical island offers visitors sundrenched clear turquoise water, year round temperatures in the high 70s and low 80s and is known for some of the world's best scuba diving and snorkeling. Roatan is surrounded by the world's second largest coral reef, hugging most of the shore. Other water activities include deep sea fishing, fly-fishing on the flats and mangroves, swimming with the dolphins and ocean kayaking. Land activities include horseback riding, exploring the lush tropical scenery, shopping for island crafts and viewing the butterfly and floral gardens. Some honeymoon couples visit Roatan on a honeymoon cruise while others opt to make this laidback Caribbean island their honeymoon destination. The island has small, personal low-key resorts, full service resorts as well as private home rentals.
