Gamble the Night Away in Antigua

by Lynn Thomas, Honeymoon Specialist last updated on 09/24/2008 Disclaimer

Welcome to the island of 365 beaches, one for every day of the year. Antigua is located in the heart of the Leeward Islands in the Eastern Caribbean and is now more easily accessible with nonstop flights on American Airlines from Miami beginning in late 2008. After spending your days on one of those gorgeous, powdery white sand beaches with gently lapping waves head back to your room and glitz it up for a night out in one the many casinos here on the island. Lucky you if you are staying in a brand new oceanview suite at Sandals Grande Antigua's Mediterranean Village. You can access the casino from a private gate just outside your suite, an exclusive entrance for Sandals guests. While inside enjoy your luck with games ranging from Black Jack to Roulette, Craps, Texas Hold 'Em and plentiful slot machines. You'll even get a sampling of Antiguan hospitality and culture as quite a few of the locals will embark on their own evening out and play a few hands as well. No need to exchange your US Dollars for EC's. They will gladly accept your money at a steady rate that rarely changes: 1.00USD = 2.60 Eastern Caribbean Dollars. If you like the local beer Wadadli, house white wine or a well brand drink, those are all given out freely and frequently. In the capital town of St John's you'll find King's Casino and if you are arriving by sailboat in the lovely Jolly Harbour, be sure to visit Grand Princess Casino with over 17,000 square feet of gambling bliss. Once you're done counting chips and cashing in on your luck, be sure to spend some of that moolah on the really amazing Rainforest Zip Line and Canopy tour, my personal recommendation for an afternoon between beaches and casinos!
