I was lucky enough to be able to tour the Carnival Sensation last week. The Fantasy Class ship was built in 1993 and after serving as emergency housing for residents of hurricane Katrina she was extensively refurbished in 2007. Today she sparkles with a beautiful color palette. She is clean, well maintained and the staff is very friendly. As you board the ship you enter into the very welcoming Grand Atrium Plaza with its 6 deck high entrance. The beautiful neon lights enhance this area where you will find your first bar with live entertainment at boarding time. The Information Desk, Shore Excursion desk and the Internet Café along with 2 glass-walled elevators are also found here. Other public areas of the ship include the Fantasia Main Lounge where you can catch a fantastic Broadway style show, Joe’s Café - a nice coffee/dessert bar, the Fantasy Dining Room with its bright & cool color palette, Michelangelo’s Lounge & Kaleidoscope Dance Club with live music for a fun evening, and of course, the Casino with card tables and slot machines. You will find lots of shopping and for those of you who want to work off some of that delicious food there is Spa Carnival, with a gym, aerobics, steam and sauna rooms, massage rooms, dressing rooms and a relaxation room. There is also a jogging track. For fun try the mini golf or waterworks corkscrew slide. Also you will find the Serenity Adults Only area with two hot tubs and a great view from your lounge chair. Cruising out of Port Canaveral (an easy transfer from Orlando International Airport) the Sensation offers 3-day cruises to Nassau, Bahamas and 4-day cruises to Nassau and Freeport, Bahamas.
