Sydney and Cairns

What a great place to honeymoon! Sydney has lots of things to do - go see an opera or other event at the Opera House, and we can even arrange for a private tour and dinner before the show. Walking around the city is also a treat, and "The Rocks" area is my favorite. They have some interesting places to eat and shop, and it's a more historical area as well as being close to the local transportation hub. You can do a day or night cruise around the Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. You can also climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge if you are brave enough! The Blue Mountains, just outside Sydney, are amazing. It's the "Grand Canyon" of Australia, and you can arrange for a 4x4 tour of the area, which I think is the best way to see it. You can stop and get near the kangaroos, go to a local animal sanctuary, stop in some local towns, and enjoy some incredible views! If you go in our winter, their summer, you could also spend the day at one of the beaches, like Bondi Beach.

I think Cairns is a must when going to Australia. You can go out to the Great Barrier Reef and do some diving or snorkeling, or for serious divers, you can do a live aboard and be out diving for a few days at a time. The town of Cairns is fun to walk around in, do some shopping, and eat at some quaint places. Outside of Cairns you can do a day trip to Kuranda, a village in the rain forest. There is a scenic train ride to get there, then do some touring around the town, rainforest, art galleries, or eat at a café. To get back down, take the sky rail, where you can stop along the way to take pictures of the view, the stop at the Aboriginal Cultural center , where you can finish off the day by seeing Aboriginal art and learn all about their culture. You can also do things like learn how to throw a boomerang or play the didgeridoo!
