All Karisma hotels are considered gourmet all-inclusive. Rated as one of the Top 100 resorts in the world by Conde Naste Traveler Readers, this AAA 4-diamond resort is certainly a one-stop destination. El Dorado Royale is an all-inclusive, adults only resort located 30 miles south of Cancun, Mexico. All-inclusive packages include dining, premium drinks, non-motorized water sports, activities, entertainment, 24-hour room service, etc. The resort is very large, however there are shuttles that will pick you up and take you to your favorite hang-out spot or restaurant.

Accommodations: We stayed in a Casita which without a doubt is the way to go for a couple looking for romance. Our room was large and beautiful!!! Where do we begin? Well, we were on the top floor (two stories) which provided a beautiful view of the ocean and pool area. The bottom floor accommodations had a “lazy river” in front of them that led out to the pool. They also had a small area where you could lay your lounge chair in the water and relax. Nevertheless, we loved the top floor because we were so close to the pool and we could truly enjoy a beautiful view (and privacy). The top-level Casitas have high open ceilings with exposed beams so you instantly feel the difference in roominess. Each room has a large comfortable king sized bed, flat screen TV with DVD player, desk with free wireless internet (Casita Suites only) and all of the expected amenities. Each room also has a table for in suite dining and a desk for your computer or writing postcards. On the far side of the room with corner windows was a perfectly placed Jacuzzi for two. It was very romantic and relaxing as you could lie back and look out at the ocean while soaking away. The bathroom was filled with all of the amenities that you would expect as well as some nice spa soaps and shower gels. It included a vanity with double sinks, a nice whirlpool tub with a shower and separate toilet closet. Then we stepped outside and found the “real” shower under the sky. It was a huge shower that was open to the stars or sunshine. This was truly a beautiful addition to the experience.

Cuisine: The resort offers several dining options. All of them were good. With seven restaurants to choose from, you won't go hungry at El Dorado Royale.

We toured 9 resorts while in Riviera Maya and Cancun the first week of August 2009. Check out our website or our Facebook page to see more reviews and photos.
