I spent several days at both the Excellence Playa Mujeres and the Excellence Riviera Cancun. Both are gorgeous resorts with a very similar layout and restaurants. Choosing between them would be difficult but there are a few differences that I noted. At the Excellence Playa Mujeres, the rooms feature a sectional sofa, a balcony bed, and the jacuzzi tub is curtained off in the corner of the room with views out the balcony. The accommodations at the Excellence Riviera Cancun have a love seat with table and chairs and the jacuzzi tub is located between the bed and the vanity.

The spa in both resorts is very beautiful and also similar, but I find the relaxation area of the Playa Mujeres to be more private and peaceful with the many chaisse lounges and candlelight.

The staff is very well trained and very gracious. The restaurants and food were wonderful wherever we decided to eat. I highly recommend both of these resorts.
