I am here to tell you that the French Quarter of New Orleans is a great honeymoon destination for those who love food, music and cities. It is alive and well and definitely NOT underwater. Bourbon Street and Preservation Hall Jazz are going strong.

My suggestion for a perfect start is to take a cooking class at the New Orleans School of Cooking. I did this a few weeks ago and found it to be invaluable, not just for the cooking demonstration but also for all of the information on New Orleans. Ann, our cook, is a native of the city and a tour guide. She started with the history of the food and how it came to be. What a great history lesson this was for someone new to the area! The menu was gumbo, jambalaya and bread pudding with a hard sauce - all the specialties of NO. After an all-you-can-eat lunch that included beer and iced tea, we got the skinny on what the best sights are to see.

Choose your style of food, music, art and accommodations - NO has it all. Don't forget the VooDoo! If you only have a short time frame for your honeymoon, consider New Orleans. You will love it.
